![]() ![]() Ultimate Doomer had mentioned Fragport somewhere and I was curious enough to seek it out on idgames. Background: I played through the set on HMP way back about 2003-2004 a bit after Community Chest 1 came out. wad again, I still want to vent about map 11. So even though I'm not inclined to download the. I've finished the set and am on the prowl for the next multi-map adventure. And when the path through the maps started to intersect with areas I'd visited in previous maps, my interest grew. It took some getting used to the altered sounds and a few changes in the beastiery and there are some forced instances of fall damage that had me questioning "why?" but the aesthetics ended up growing on me. Gameplay is mostly on the touristy side on HMP but there are segments and setups where the challenge level spikes relative to the usual level. Simulating riding a sailboat in map 9 is one of the more creative uses of the GZDoom engine I've encountered, among other standout moments. Many times I would stop and admire a view the visuals are a strong point. I have also been making my way through Greenian over the past month or so. Didn't need it being a continuous journey but solving the puzzle provided satisfaction on its own. Map 9's secret BFG was another arcane sequence to figure out, even if it was more contained. Map 8 has an extended sequence to reach the BFG (which I already covered in greater detail in a separate post) which was very satisfying to figure out. The very first plasma gun of the set in map 4 dangles tauntingly out of reach and when I did find the way to it, it was a "how is anyone supposed to figure this out?" moment. Secrets are also a standout feature (not necessarily a good standout, mind). The rest of the time, there's only green armor and armor bonuses and even the green armor can feel limited. Blue armor is a very scarce resource in this set out of the ten maps in the campaign, there is one megasphere in a secret, one blue armor (also somewhat hidden) and no other source until the boss encounter of map 10. I made one attempt for Ironman, dabbled around in some of the other individual levels, but hadn't gone for a real completion until recently. Like most Icon maps, no desire to play it again after the first success. I didn't even notice the sector explosives because I was rushing through to beat the crowd and had no inclination to stop and take in the sights. Sio yeah, I just grinded attempts until I got an exit in decent shape (150 health and armor was enough) and little wasted ammo. Cells are for archviles only and everything else is handled with rockets/SSG/chaingun or preferably evaded. And I really didn't want to use BFG the whole way because of the limited ammo refills on the following map so not wasting cells matters. If a monster blocks the path in one of the narrow passages and a wrong weapon is out, it's a two second loss before dealing with it which frustrated me when speed was of the essence. This map really had me cursing Doom's slow weapon switch speed. Playing the thing was basically learn the layout, memorize a route, then reload to before the spawner activates and run it in one go. To summarize, I admire the setup and how it serves Fragport's narrative but didn't enjoy actually doing it. ![]() The version I played had no ammo whatsoever in this map but I'd stocked up in 28 so no impact on the gameplay. Heh, I still remember this one and the first and last time I finished it was about 20 years ago. This thing is so convenient to have outside of combat just getting around a map. Vision mode is like lite-amps on demand, a boon when trying to navigate darkness. Hazard mode stops damage from damaging floors, only balanced out by being unable to fight. Defense mode dramatically reduces damage, a natural fit for my tendency for infight baiting. Once I did understand it, it has a lot of utility. Wish there was better documentation on what the weapons do figuring out the deal with the Halderman device was a puzzle with no readily available documentation. ![]() I set the starting set to random and ended up with the TNT arsenal. It's a long one and takes a time investment to see it through. I do plan on revisiting it with a Final Doomer weaponset but not so soon after finishing it. The use of Crusader music may very well be inflating my opinion of the map. But with some custom textures and decorations it did have that sense of place. Supply Depot was impressively immersive even though it's mostly vanilla textures. Still a decent mapset and chalking this up to my personal preferences. Something intangible that I'm not able to express in words. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It will also come with a new sound browser that utilises “dynamic filtering” to help discover different types of sound, including options for instrument patches, plug-in presets, samples, and loops. ![]() Logic Pro will come with some of the same touch-friendly features, allowing users to take advantage of multi-touch gestures to play software instruments and interact with controls. want like switching applications, opening browser windows or changing DPI speed. Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Starr hoped to follow the same basic routine with Yellow Submarine, and saw the animated film as an easy way to fulfill their United Artists contract. The band had no involvement in the production of the show, and were voiced by professional voice actors, but every week teenagers were able to tune in and watch a series of short, cheaply produced cartoons that were usually written around a 'performance' of one of the band's current hits (example: 'And Your Bird Can Sing'). Increase contrastĪ common issue when converting a color image to black and white is a loss of contrast. Use the Black and White Adjustment feature in Photoshop for the most control over the results. Nor do we recommend simply changing the image to grayscale, as grayscale won't produce the best results either. What about desaturate or grayscale?Īnother option is the D esaturate feature (Adjustments > Desaturate ) but we don’t recommend this option due to its lack of control. This means you'll need to work on a RGB version of your image before converting it to CMYK (See the steps at the bottom of this article for that). If the Black and White adjustments option is greyed, out it's likely because your image isn't in an RGB color space. This feature is only available for images in an RGB color space. By adjusting the controls, you’ll see a real-time preview of your changes and can control how colors translate to the black and white image. T o do this we recommend using the Black and White Adjustment feature in Photoshop (Image > Adjustments > Black & White). Before you beginĪlways duplicate your originals before you begin editing them. One thing you can do to minimize such shifts is to remove all color from your images, as explained below. Even Hewlett-Packard, the manufacturer of the industry-standard HP Indigo press, specifies an allowable amount of color shift for their digital presses. Getting a totally neutral image can be tricky though, as there's always the chance of a slight color shift. Most people wouldn't notice a slight color shift in a color image, but a color shift in black and white images is another story. The biggest challenge in printing black and white images using a four-color press is the potential for a color cast. This article explains how to prepare your black and white images in Photoshop when using our InDesign plug-in or the PDF uploader. ![]() |
